Usually, the trip from Milano to Parkertown took about two hours. Normally, during that two-hour journey, I would sleep, exhausted from work and always drowsy during long rides. But tonight was different. I had already slept earlier, and the panic I felt kept me wide awake. My mind raced with thoughts, desperate to speak with Asher and find out exactly what had happened.
I couldn’t stop imagining the man in the black hoodie being Enrique—or, if not him, then Collin’s reincarnation. Those two were the most likely suspects to go after Kade and hurt Asher. Unless, of course, there was someone else harboring a grudge against Kade that even Tate and the police didn’t know about.
The usual two-hour trip felt faster tonight, shortened to just an hour and twenty-five minutes. Perhaps it was because the roads were nearly empty this late at night.
