Chapter 70
John’s body suddenly grew weak, his strength drained away as Yana’s painful words echoed in his ears. The weight of her departure bore down on him heavily, compounding the agony caused by his own foolish mistake. In an outburst of anguish, he screamed at the top of his lungs, allowing some of the emotional burden to escape. Tears streamed down his face as he frantically ran his hands through his hair, a jumbled mix of irritation and despair consuming his every thought.
"Idiot," he muttered in self-blame, pounding his feet against the ground as if it were responsible for his misfortune. The gazes of onlookers meant nothing to him; he was lost in the depths of his own turmoil.
