Chapter 104. Who’s the Stranger?

The drive back to the family house was silent, comfortably silent and Roxanne could feel that the brewing tension back at the hospital had disappeared. But she was still curious about what Lance had to say and she wordlessly squeezed his hand which was resting on her lap to pass this along.

Lance glanced away from the road for mere seconds, flashing a calm and charming smile her way before turning back to focus on the road. “We can talk in the house,” he replied before looking back at the road and Roxanne followed his gaze, glancing up at the house which was visible in the distance.

Roxanne knew that Lance was going to have some important answers for her but she also knew that they were still working things out and that this might just be another part of that process. So she was just going to sit back and enjoy the comfortable silence of the ride back home.
