Chapter 67. Walking Into The Lion’s Den

Roxanne was taken aback by the sound of Henry’s voice. For a few seconds she remained silent and when she could finally speak, the only thing she said was: “Hello?”

Henry didn’t immediately speak after she did, but when he did, Roxanne involuntarily felt shivers run down her spine. For some reason, hearing his voice brought back the fresh memories of her encounter with Christopher.

“Roxanne, it’s good to hear from you,” He said in a pleasant tone that was meant to immediately put her at ease, however, it did not.

“Good to hear from you too, Mr. Laurent,” She replied, a clearly tensed as she shifted her weight from one leg onto the other and looked around. “Is there anything i can help you with?”

“Ever the clever girl. Grace is preparing a feast tonight, come over and join us.”

Join them? Roxanne didn’t even need to think the answer through before she responded.

“I’m quite busy tonight so i’ll have to turn your offer down.” She rejected.
