Chapter 99. Avoiding the Consequences

The next few weeks went by peacefully and silently. With Roxanne busy with her ongoing projects and her relationship with Lance, she barely had time to think of things like Christopher and Penelope.

But all that changed when she got a call from her grandmother.

“Roxy dear, come home this weekend, won’t you?” Rosalie said once Roxanne answered the phone call.

“This weekend?” She asked as she placed her mug of coffee away and gathered some of the files she still had to look over, into her hand and then slipped into a comfortable position on her couch to begin working. “What’s happening this weekend?”

“This weekend is your cousin’s birthday. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten.”

She did.

“Of course not.” Roxanne denied and chuckled. “How could I have forgotten, I just thought that as always we were going to celebrate it by month’s end, so that it falls on the same day a Halloween.”

Rosalie was quick for a few seconds on the other line before she spo
