Chapter 55

Lucian’s POV

She cannot be dead! This is not how it is supposed to go! The panic flooded through me. The reflection of myself in the mirror opposite from me conveys the turmoil that was going through my mind perfectly. The image of my reflection on the full length mirror with my hands spread at both of my sides, wide open, my eyes opened wide like I had just seen a ghost, my face set in a shocked look. I looked at myself, I swallowed, hoping to somehow get the panic away from my throat and away from me. It did not go anywhere, the panic remained.

The fear that I might lose her terrorized me, I could not even understand why. I should not care about her! I should only care about my plan and how her death is going to ruin that. I should not be as invested in this…in her as I am. Normally, I would be spending this time trying to devise a new plan but for some reason I am stuck thinking of ways to keep her alive.
