Chapter 36. Noelle and Shane
As tired as Shane felt, he seemed to be in pretty great shape in comparison to a quickly fading Noelle. After she almost tripped over the curb while walking toward the parking lot, Shane was tempted to pick her up and carry her the rest of the way. But with so much still unsaid between then, he opted for holding a strong hand on her arm, steering her where he needed her to go.
He helped her inside the car and tossed her bag in the backseat.
“I don’t want to be alone,” Noelle stated as Shane maneuvered the car out of the busy parking lot.
“You’re not alone. I’m right here.”
“I mean I don’t want to go home. Can I crash at your house for a few hours?” Noelle asked, the fatigue making itself known in her tired voice.
“Yeah, of course.” Shane looked over at Noelle. Her head was leaning against the window, her eyes closed.
“Thank you,” she mumbled.
