Grant watched Malia from across the room, and he felt a spark of pride bloom inside him. 

She was savage when the situation demanded it, as he saw from how she effortlessly handled Elena. He was impressed with her, he had been under the impression that she was a scared daddy's princess, a pushover that could be easily influenced. But as he watched her speak easily to everybody she came up to, those views were changing. A bit. She was talking to one of his top investors, Brooke Young. Her poise was perfect, her back straight as a rod, her chin held high. She had a soft smile on her lips and nodded slowly as he spoke.
