"You know," Amanda said. "Cane had always said how he wanted to be drifted down a river, in a canoe of roses and sunflowers."
"Because roses were romantic and sunflowers were happy."
"Yeah, he always said it like that." Amanda chuckled. "But look at him now."
Malia stared at the urn. "We can still find some roses and sunflowers."
"There's no point."
Amanda was looking so strong. Malia could feel tears gathering in her eyes. Amanda turned to the cliff and opened the urn. She turned it over and the wind carried Cane's ashes down to the river and the air.
"Farewell," Amanda whispered, her voice cracking at the end. "I love you still."
Malia watched till the ashes vanished from sight. "Goodbye Cane, I'm sorry." She said to herself.
