Chapter 34

Grant turned out to know a lot of good places. But Malia couldn't focus on their little get-out. More often than not, he had to call her back to earth. 

It got to the point that they just had to head back to the suite. 

"I think you need to rest," Grant said to her once they returned. "I'll be back late, don't wait for me."

She didn't reply.

Once again she was left alone in the suite. She took a cold shower and soaked in a rejuvenating herbal bath. She ordered room service and ate all she wanted to eat. 

Then she decided to call Amanda.

"Is anything the problem?" Amanda asked. 

"Not really, I wanted to hear your voice."

Amanda was silent a while. "Something happened, didn't it?"

Malia sighed. She curled up on the couch with some chips. The TV was on but muted and a soap opera was showing. Each chip that Malia ate reminded her of the dark hotel room.

"Yeah, something happened."

"Let me guess, you won't tel
