"What happened just now?" I asked the table in a light tone but they both had grim faces that shows they were not smiling at all.

"Your wife seems to think this was all a setup" Thompson was the first to speak,

I looked at her but she was meeting my gaze straight on, "what?"

"Why didn't you tell me he was coming? You made me believe it was just dinner for two" She asked immediately,

"I didn't think it mattered," I answered,

I saw Thompson shake his head from the corner of my eye and sighed, yes, I know I am an idiot. I sighed to myself

"You didn't think? "She asked like she was in disbelief.

"Well, you didn't ask and I just assumed you didn't care. I told you that this dinner was important to me" I defended. This time, I saw Thompson facepalm himself and shake his head at the same time.

"Okay," she said calmly, way too calmly.
