Approaching Gloria, my heart raced, each beat reflecting the moment’s importance. The music guided my steps, creating an intimate bubble in the lively ballroom, drowning out the noise.

Drawing a deep breath, I mustered the courage to speak. “Hey, Birthday girl,” I greeted, my voice tinged with a mix of nervousness and genuine affection.

Gloria turned, surprised and delighted to see me. A warm smile lit up her face. “Oh, hey, Marco,” she said with genuine curiosity. “I didn’t expect you to be here. How did you find out it was my birthday?”

Her interest made me feel satisfied. I managed to catch her attention, even if briefly. Nerves still gripped me, but determination pushed me forward.

Remembering Clara’s advice to be myself, I replied with a smile, “Well, a friend told me it was your birthday, and I couldn’t resist joining the celebration. I hope you don’t mind.
