Ronan's POV

The third bell had not finished ringing when Mara climbed out of the grain tunnel beneath Ironwood’s council storehouse. I followed her into a city ordered not to move.

Faces crowded the windows, but the streets were empty. Gideon had commanded most of his wolves to remain inside while he executed Captain Orsik; those he had summoned to the square stood where he had left them, unable to walk away. Grimm recoiled from the stillness, and I felt my shoulders tighten beneath the bandages.
