Ronan's POV

The third bell had not finished ringing when Mara climbed out of the grain tunnel beneath Ironwood's council storehouse.

I followed her into a city that had been ordered not to move.

That was the first thing I noticed. Windows were full of faces, but the streets were empty. Wolves stood behind curtains and half-open doors with their bodies rigid, held in place by Gideon's territory-wide command.

Grimm hated the unnatural stillness, and I shared the feeling.
