I found Gideon's room empty, his two guards unconscious, and a note on the desk.

Mara was still on the communication stone when I read it.

"He drugged the guards," I said.

"Of course he did."

Her voice was so calm that Lucien stopped speaking in the background.

"The note says he knows how to enter Ironwood's founder vault without opening the public relay chamber. He thinks he can force Severin to reveal the Crown Circuit controls."
