Chapter 67
Ronan's POV
I watched Mara disappear into a floor because she asked me to let go.
Every instinct I possessed told me I had failed. A Warden did not release someone into an unknown shaft. A wolf did not open his hand when his chosen woman was being pulled away. Grimm was furious enough to make my teeth ache.
The only reason I did not call the decision a mistake was that Mara had looked directly at me and told me it was hers. I had promised, in a dozen different ways, that her choices would remain real when they became inconvenient for me. Apparently the universe had decided to test the wording.
There were several things I wanted to destroy after that.
The floor was first.
I hit the stone with the heel of my sword. Nothing happened.
