Mara's POV
The first twenty-four hours after changing supernatural government were mostly paperwork.
I found that reassuring.
Revolutions looked dramatic from a distance. Up close, someone still had to assign beds, count medicine, repair the east gate, feed prisoners, and explain to three hundred confused wolves why their Alpha's voice no longer made their knees weak.
Maeve treated Gideon, Caldor, Ronan, me, and then herself, in that order.
She complained through all of it.
"You people have turned bleeding into a meeting format."
Gideon lay on the infirmary bed with his hand wrapped to the elbow.
"Did I lose the founder mark?"
"Yes," I said. "Good."
