Chapter 81. Dead End
*** EAST CEMETERY ***
Daryl pulled over in front of a cemetery built on a grassy patch. The cemetery is old and dates back to three hundred years. It’s no longer in use but deserted like a hunted ground.
He stepped out of his car, closed the door, he walked to the trunk. With a single push of the remote control’s button, the trunk opened after a beep.
“I should get to work,” he said, grabbing a pickaxe from his trunk.
He breathes with a sigh and then shuts the trunk with another push of the remote control’s button. The trunk closes.
He walked right through the fallen face and made his way into the cemetery. It has become a home for ravens. Their shrill alarm sound didn’t distract him from what he had come to do. He continued on his way, ignoring the ravens that flew over his head.
The city of New Orleans has discontinued the use of the East cemetery to bury the dead. People no longer bury their dead there.
