Chapter 13
As I walked into the bustling office, I was taken aback by the sight that greeted me. Every agent, from the lowliest trainee to the most seasoned veteran, was crowded around the large screen in the center of the room. Even the senior officers, who normally carried themselves with an air of aloof detachment, were gathered around the screen with rapt attention.
I approached one of my colleagues, who was standing near the back of the room, and asked what was going on. They turned to me with a smile and gestured towards the screen.
“Take a look for yourself,” they said.
I pushed my way through the throng of people and made my way to the front of the room. As I looked up at the screen, my heart began to race. There, standing at a podium with a microphone in his hand, was Senator Grant. And he was speaking about me.
