Chapter 34
Once Maxine and Nurse Bea arrived in Toronto, Grandpa George picked them up and drove them to the rest house. On their way, Grandpa George asked, “How are you, Maxine?”
“I’m fine, Dad. Thank you. I’m sorry for the trouble,” she answered, embarrassed.
“You are my son’s wife, Maxine. No need to be shy,” he assured her while he stepped on the gas.
They had a safe and fun trip on the road as Maxine appreciated the scenery. From time to time, they would also converse. Maxine then looked at her nurse, “Thank you, Bea, for agreeing to be my personal nurse.”
She smiled with excitement. “Oh, Ma’am! I’m more grateful to you. I get to have a free vacation while my salary gets higher.” Maxine then knew that Stanley had done that.
“Please call me Maxine. Besides, I think we’ll be friends since we’re going to stay together for a while.”
“Okay, Maxine...” she replied. Nurse Bea seemed jolly and expressive.
