Chapter 109. U-Turn

Jake’s POV

Phill looked straight into her eyes. “Lea, you can’t stay here. Go home with him.”

I saw Lea’s lips move but nothing came out of them. She looked like her legs were turning into jelly. The two of them kept staring at each other and it looked like they were having some nonverbal conversation. A conversation I was not a part of and it made me really uncomfortable.

“But I need to...” Words finally tumbled out of her mouth as she raised her hands, protesting.

But Phill suddenly grabbed her hands and held them close. “You need to go home with Jake. You need to get out of this place. Weren’t you complaining? You have been around this place too long?” I could see a hint of a smile as he joked, but Lea was not smiling. “I will be here with Kai. I thought you trusted me around your boy.” He kept holding her hands as he spoke. He was not letting go.
