Phill's POV

"I... I had no idea...I am sorry.” She looked apologetically at me.

Wait! That was not the reaction I was expecting.

“You are one of the best human beings, Phill. Honestly, you are much more likeable and anybody would fall in love with you. Even me... if only my heart didn’t beat for Jake. If Jake didn’t exist... or if perhaps we would have met first... then maybe... Maybe I would have fallen for you too...” She was mumbling way too many words.

None of those words registered with me. I didn’t want a speech from her on why we couldn’t be. I placed my finger on her lips. I could feel them quiver at my touch.
