Chapter 4
Daphne’s POV
Twirling around to answer him I say. “Well, as usual, I got in at the perfect time, talked, and had the best of my conversations. I even had extra points given on my first exam in some classes.” He shakes his head, rolls his eyes, and rubs his hair like I am too much, which I am.
“Okay so the worst question was that one. I have band practice so let’s meet up later at JoJy’s?” He asks me and I nod. We say goodbye and from there I walk to my car. I will do my homework in the library that’s a bit far. I will park my car closer so I don’t have to walk in the dark.
Walking to my car, I’m stopped by a guy who has been in two of my classes so far. He gives me a bad boy vibe, and I don’t do bad boys. I want a bright and happy future, a bad boy is not good news.

Alexander’s POV
“I don’t understand why this file was given to us to begin with. There’s nothing in it that stands out. He adopted five kids, which seems a bit odd, but I’m sure the deaths are nothing to suspect for something.” Gordon says with an annoyed tone at the end.
I close my eyes and pray strongly to Selene. This human is the reason we get into trouble. If he could only be smart, it would save me the pain in my head right about now.
“Tell me about it. It’s clear the issue, but not for a human. Tell me we can leave and have a run, you haven’t allowed me to leave just yet.” Ajax asks me and I have to agree with him.
“As soon as this meeting ends I will go for a run. Using the stress of how much time you have been cooped up.” He nods and adds, “If not, I will still shift them, agreeing or not.” He sniffs hard out in my brain.
We are both annoyed at this meeting. Glancing over at Orpheus, he has a finger in his pointy chin, clearly thinking about the report. He knows that if Gordon figures it out and he realizes that the vampire, Julian broke the most crucial of rules we all agreed on, which was to not kill the other species for any motive. A war would begin in these moments.
“Please, do forgive my ignorance in this matter gentleman, but have we all had tea?” I ask out loud, trying to break the tension. I hear Orpheus and father sigh out loud, and see clearly that my father is tied behind his back in this.
“Actually no, I rushed her and have had nothing, but water.” I nod at his answer and mindlink the Omegas to bring in the tea and snacks to eat, specifically for the guests, their own choice of snacks and tea.
The Omegas first bring in the human food which is similar to what we werewolves eat, but they have way too many seasonings. Too many aromas and diversity. Then the plate to the vampires, they like their food from medium-rare to rare and at times just a black glass of pure blood.
Today it seems, Orpheus wants his cup. I don’t blame him, he would be up against the humans and the werewolves. Not a good start to his day I suppose. Next is my own, werewolves can tolerate a handful of foods and drinks, but overall we prefer the water, clean food. Don’t get me wrong, if it’s for a good time, four gallons of moonshine couldn’t make us tipsy. We have extremely high senses. We are not immortals, neither are vampires or humans.
“Mmmmm, thank you. This is what we need for a small recharge, cheers gentleman.” We toast from our seats. As we eat I have a mindlink conversation with my father.
‘Care to tell me why bring this up? You will start a war against Orpheus and you know we do not have the resources after our last payment of truce to the humans. Meaning we will be in their favor, father.’ I state my father as he growls in our link.
‘I’m aware of that. Why do you think I summoned you? I need to finish this without starting another war!’ He shouts in my head, taking another sandwich. I look over the documents again when I see a piece of very interesting information.
‘Father, did you notice Jenny has been cut off from his informational gatherings. She is a stay-at-home mother. No log-outs, no social life, and only one child?’ I declare to him these facts and he looks through them as well.
“Why would Julian do that? Vampires are known to be secluded, but this way of seclusion is not right. Orpheus needs to take action.’ I nod slowly, making it look like I am thinking, then it occurs to me the one thing Orpheus hasn’t done.
‘Has Orpheus done his background check or is this the first one to be done?’ I ask him straight forward and he answers me with a shocked face and a bright smile.
“No, he hasn’t and it’s overdone by fifteen years. It should have been done at the latest when the child is five years of age.’ I smile at my father. We got him.
Clearing my plate, I snap my fingers at the Omegas to take the things away. It’s time to wrap this up.
“Very well, we will end this with the final sayings. Julian and Jenny have not had their head vampire or human visit from either one of you, seeing as it is on the Orpheus territory. Let us have him do the visit first and by the age of 21 of the boy, Gordon. You may give your inspection, sounds fair?” They both nod and I smile. It’s a solid start to this.
“I agree, we should give time to make sure the-” A loud scream interrupts Gordon.
