Chapter 32

Chloe’s POV

I did not sleep much after that night.

My body was tired, but my mind refused to rest. Drake lay beside me, quiet and distant, his presence heavy but unreachable. When morning came, he was already dressed, standing near the window with his back to me, looking out as if the city beyond the walls mattered more than the woman in the bed.

“Drake,” I said.

He turned slowly. “What is it.”

“We need to talk,” I replied.

He looked at his watch. “Not now.”

“Yes. Now,” I insisted. My voice was calm, but my chest felt tight. “If we do not talk now, we will keep hurting each other.”

He studied me for a moment, then nodded once. “Fine.”

He sat on the chair near the desk. I wrapped the sheet around myself and faced him.

“I am tired of guessing,” I said. “I am tired of half answers and warnings that never explain anything.”

“You know enough,” he replied.

“No,” I said. “I do not.”
