Chloe’s POV

Drake did not come that evening with urgency or hunger.

He arrived with calm precision.

I knew something was different the moment Mrs. Grace told me he was in the study waiting for me. There was no tension in the house, no sharp movements from the guards, no weight pressing against my chest like before. Everything felt organized, deliberate, planned.

That scared me more than his anger ever had.

I walked into the study slowly.

Drake stood beside the desk, jacket off, sleeves rolled neatly to his elbows. A thick folder lay open in front of him. Papers were arranged carefully, aligned as if they mattered more than emotions ever could.

“Sit down,” he said.

I remained standing. “What is this.”

He glanced at me briefly, then back at the documents. “These are legal protections.”

“For what,” I asked.
