Chapter 22
"Come in," I said, trying to sound cheerful.
Nurse Agatha entered the room, holding a tray of food. She was a kind woman with a gentle voice, but I couldn't stand the sight of her. She reminded me of everything that I had lost.
"Good morning, dear," she said, setting the tray down on the nightstand. "I brought you some eggs and toast. You need to eat something, especially now that you're pregnant."
I shook my head and turned away from the tray. "I'm not hungry," I said. "And I don't want this baby."
Nurse Agatha looked at me with concern. "I know you're going through a lot right now, dear," she said. "But you have to think about the baby. It's innocent and it needs you to take care of it."
