Chapter 26
"You still aren't dressed for your engagement?" my mother's shrill voice pierced my ears, as she stormed into my bedroom.
I groaned and rolled over on the bed, ignoring her. I didn't want to get up, and I didn't want to go through with the engagement. But my mother wouldn't leave me alone, and she walked over to me and pushed me off the bed.
"Mother!" I yelled, frowning at her. "What are you doing? Leave me alone!"
"I won't leave you alone, Kylian," she said, her voice stern and commanding. "You're getting engaged today, and you have to get dressed and ready. This is a big day for our family, and you have to show Macy and her parents that you're a responsible and capable man."
I sighed, and I looked at her with frustration and anger. "I don't want to get engaged, Mother. I don't love Macy, and I don't want to marry her. You're forcing me to do this, and I don't like it."
My mother's eyes narrowed, and she shook her head. "I'm not forcing you
