Chapter 67. The Gift

"I am an old man again now that you got what you wanted?" Edward expressed his honest emotion as he was really feeling used and thrashed again by his willful daughter.

"Oh my god," Val gave a cheerful laugh as she saw her dad acting cute. "I love you, dad."

Edward felt all his heartache melt when she said the last line before she closed the car door to his side in the backseat of his Maybach. He rolled the tinted window down and she hung over to give him a kiss on the cheek. "Sleep well, I will be back in the morning."

"Be safe," Edward shortly answered. She just has to be alive. Whatever happens, as long as she is alive and well won't matter.
