Chapter 2
She followed him wordlessly into the dining room, and then froze in her tracks. Gia stood in the entrance, getting her first look at the dining room. The last time she’d seen it, chairs had been tipped over and a crowd was gathered around a man who would have died of a heart attack if David hadn’t been giving him CPR.
Now it was almost a completely different place. Every single table and chair had been removed from the huge dining area except for one single table for two that sat in the center of the room. The lights were off, and the entire room was lit with candles. It must have been hundreds of them, and they all sat on plates and trays on the floor, spanning the entire perimeter of the room.
She took a few steps inside, taking in the intense candlelight that flickered on the walls, giving a romantic glow to the room.
A soft footstep fell on the carpet behind her, and she turned, expecting to see the same waiter who had led her inside.
