Chapter 3
They were interrupted during a silent moment by the waiter, who delivered their food.
“I ordered ahead of time,” David explained as the delicious looking meal was placed on the table. “I hope that’s okay.”
“You know exactly what I like,” she said. They took a few bites before either of them spoke again, letting the food invade their senses and distract them for a few minutes.
“This is so nice,” she said finally. “And I almost ruined it.”
He waved a hand, as if to dismiss the idea that her behavior had put any sort of blemish on his beautiful plans. He’s so sweet, she thought, and guilt flooded her, making her face hot and her eyes sting with tears.
“I’m sorry,” she said, as the first tear rolled slowly down her warm cheek. “I completely over reacted.”
David’s smile spread across his face, and his crystal blue eyes sparked in the candlelight.
