Chapter 4
The next two days Lacey spent with Christopher in Denver were like a dream. He lived in a high-tech mansion designed by a cutting-edge architect with enormous windows that bathed every room in light. She expected some sort of industrial minimalist decor, but Christopher's home was filled with warm woods and classic, comfortable furnishings in forest, sky and sea colors.
His staff made her a little nervous at first -- she'd never known anyone to have anything more than a cleaning lady -- but they were all friendly and unobtrusive. The fact that she and Christopher spent most of Saturday in the master suite might have also factored in. They only left his big bed to shower and eat the delicious meals his housekeeper brought up on a cart from the kitchen.
