Ashton Blake rolled his shoulders as he scanned through the incoming reservations. Seaside Resort, one of his most popular vacation spots, was booked solid for the summer and beyond. So why were profits down? The bottom line for the last two months was at an all-time low, worse than the dead of winter when business was expectedly slow.

Something was wrong at Seaside Resort. He saw a couple of possibilities: the resort was being mismanaged or someone was skimming. He’d put his money on the skimming. Over the last six months, he’d sent his best auditors and his top problem solvers, but no one could find anything that was off. He drew in a deep breath. Something wasn’t adding up.

So he’d come up with his own version of Undercover Boss and was now working at the resort as an assistant manager. Only his admin—a woman old enough to be his mother, and the only one he trusted—knew where he was and what he was doing. With the amount of money flowing out of the resort, he s
