Jacob's POV

When Addison and Miss Helen jumped out of the window, I immediately ran to where they were. I almost leaped out myself, but this jerk, Payne, stopped me. He has been trying to piss me off these days. Especially now when he verified that I really rejected Addison.

"Where do you think you're going, Mr. Carter?" He asked in a demanding tone. I arched my eyebrow and shrugged his hand off my shoulders.

"Do you think you and Ms. Addison would be safe if I reported that the both of you carelessly released your pheromones?" he smugly asked, and since I can't hear him with my ears, he must've mind linked me.

"She only did so because of me!" I growled through my head. He was taken aback by the force and growls that I sent through the mind link.
