Chapter 85
The next morning, Nocturne and I were up before dawn. Tier had sent a response the day before telling us that he would be arriving at Raymond’s castle early that morning. Nocturne and I were silent as we got ready and headed out to the carriage. I could still feel her distress at the sudden arrival of her father. To think that she was so frightened he would take her back to the underworld, it was truly unexpected.
“My lady.” I said softly as I helped her into the carriage. She nodded her head at me as she entered the carriage. I climbed in after she had settled. The carriage took off just as the first rays of sunlight began to appear on the horizon. The carriage ride seemed even longer than usual as we sat in an unbearable silence. As the king’s castle appeared in the distance, I decided to break the silence. “How are you feeling?” I asked Nocturne in a soft voice. She continued to look out the window as she spoke to me.
“I am fine. Just…overwhelmed.” She admitt
