Chapter 86

Nocturne and I returned to the estate just before lunch. Nocturne was visibly in a much better mood than when we had left.

 “I am glad to see you at ease, my love.” I said as we headed to the dining room to get some well-deserved lunch.

 “I feel so much better.” She admitted. “My father seems to like you.” She said with a relieved smile. “I was worried because he dislikes all the other deities. I am glad to see that he is not holding your status against you.”

 “I think we can thank Raymond for that, at least in part. He made sure to introduce me as his ward rather than a deity. I wonder if this helped influence your fathers view of me.” I spoke.

 “Perhaps.” Nocturne said, thoughtfully. “He is a difficult person to understand.” She spoke.

 “Yes…I can see that.” I agreed. Nocturne giggled lightly as we entered the dining room.

“Well, at least today is over and done with.” She said as we sat down at the dining room table
