Book 3: Chapter 32

She honestly did think that I was still saving myself like she had wanted me to. Then again, when I had told my mother that I’d kissed a boy she had flipped out and I’d been seven at the time. She had forced me to go upstairs and take a shower as if that boy had dirtied more than my lips. Then she sat me down and proceeded to give me a two-hour lecture on sex again. Then she sent me to a private all-girls school for a year. A bit of an overdramatic response to something as small as a simple kiss; but she didn’t want me to be a slut, and I quote “like the woman your father left us for.” I was very tired of those words by the time I was sixteen.

“Are you listening to me, young lady?”

“Yes, Mother.”

“Then what did I say?”

I bit my lip because I had spaced off while she was talking; like I normally did. I hadn’t caught anything she had said while I was off in my own little world.

“I’m sorry, Mother, I actually didn’t. Could you repeat that?”
