Book 4: Chapter 23

I stood in the doorway of my new house, staring at the dusty cobweb-filled walls, and breathed in the dank air that permeated the house.

“Home,” I said proudly.

I felt a little twinge of remorse and regret over the loss of my gym that once was my home, but I forced it back down. This was the future now, and I could no longer live in the past. The job at the hospital was not exhilarating. However, it paid really well, and I was grateful for that. It had allowed me to rent this house and fix it up. As well as get out from under all my friends.

The owners had truly been a miracle to me, and I do not know how many times I told the real estate lady thanks for everything she had done. I even offered to take her out to dinner to celebrate, but she looked at her phone and declined, stating she had another appointment in a few hours.

So, instead, I was standing in the middle of my new house in the dark because the electrician would not be here until tomorrow.
