Book 4: Chapter 35

With Kevin and Alyssa on my side, the whole police interrogation was almost a breeze. They barely even spoke two words to me, much less ask any real in-depth questions. Basically, the whole conversation was: Why? And where are the bodies?

When they seemed satisfied, Kevin swung his arm around my shoulder and pulled me forcefully away from my house. Once I was safe and secure in their truck, I felt every muscle in my body melt into the seat as I turned into a pile of goo. I could hear Kevin and Alyssa talking, but I was too exhausted to try and make out what they were saying. I allowed the soft cadence of their voice to lull me into a drowsy doze that wiped out every other thought in my head.

“Bethany,” came a soft voice bringing me out of my sleep.

Drowsily, I opened my eyes to find Alyssa’s sweet face staring ardently into my eyes.

“Beautiful,” I whispered without thought because she was.
