Book 4: Chapter 50

A wickedly pleased smile lighted up his face. “This little problem of ours gives me some interesting ideas.”

My heart skipped a beat as some of my own interesting ideas came to mind. I silently hoped that we were thinking along the same lines. But, before we could compare notes, Alyssa interrupted.

“As much as I’d love to hear all about these ideas. Kevin, you need to eat and then head into town.”

There was a rather cryptic look on her face that I could not decipher. But, from the nod, Kevin gave he knew exactly what she was talking about.

“Can I come with you?” I requested.

They looked at each other with a silent conversation that I was not privy to.

“Not this time. Besides, I believe Alyssa has some rather fun plans for you two while I’m gone,” Kevin replied with a seductive wink.

I knew he was trying to sidetrack me, but I was not going to let him.

“What are you going to do in town?” I asked bluntly, not beating around the bush.
