Chapter 12

Riley 

After throwing with Ethan that evening, and after Ethan had managed to get out of being alone with him in the locker room yet again, Riley was in low spirits. He heated a protein-enriched meal when he returned to his apartment because he didn’t have the heart to cook something fresh for dinner. 

“Cheer up, Riley,” Devon called from the sofa.

“How could you eat without me, Devon?” Riley complained as he looked at the remains of Devon’s unhealthy takeaway burger and fries on the countertop.

It wasn’t like he could eat something like that every night, but once in a while was okay, right? He sat down on the other sofa to eat his vegetable-enriched lasagne with a pout.

“What are you up to tonight?” Devon said as he lay down stretched out on his sofa.

“You look the picture of relaxation, but I have to study,” Riley replied.
