Chapter 16

Riley

After all the time spent getting to know Ethan slowly, after breaking off all his sexual relationships, after experiencing their new intimacy, Riley wasn’t prepared for the sight of Ethan cuddling his flatmate. He had been in high spirits–drunk and high on life with his newfound romance and partying with his friends…He’d been so happy lately with his courtship of Ethan. What had gone wrong?

As he stormed back into the frat house, Ethan’s other flatmate passed him on the way out of the building. Riley jerked out of his way, wanting nothing to do with the people in Ethan’s life. He stumbled back into the kitchen to weave past the crowd for another drink. Once he’d poured himself a beer from the keg, he sat down on the back porch to stew in his misery. Then, he noticed a shadow from someone exiting the house. It was Ethan.

“Riley! What’s wrong?” Ethan said as he crouched beside him. 

“Nothin’,” Riley said as he turned his face the other way.
