Vic stopped beside the table. “He’ll be here shortly,” he said.

Parley gave one slow nod and sat down calmly. Steve remained standing beside him. Vic looked at Steve briefly.

“Only him.”

Steve frowned, “I’m staying.”

Vic stared at him, wondering if he was stupid. Steve looked toward Parley but the older man simply spoke without emotion.

“Wait outside.”

Steve clenched his jaw slightly but obeyed. Once he walked off, Vic finally turned and headed back toward the building.

Back inside the room, Liana was pacing so much it looked like she couldn’t physically stay still anymore. Her breathing had become uneven as she was nervous and terrified. Then the door opened and Cain walked in.

The moment she saw him, she rushed over immediately and wrapped her arms tightly around his torso. “He’s here?” she asked quickly, visibly panicking. “He came?”
