Chapter 20. Blessings

Emma had put on her work uniform but still hesitated to leave. Since the incident with her mother coming to the cinema and slapping her, she hadn't spoken to her mother again. Emma had decided to explain everything today.

"Mom, about Andrew," Emma mumbled cautiously. Mona was arranging the dishes in the lunchbox to take to the mall when her daughter approached, "I admit I've been shortsighted. Andrew offered to pay off our debts if I accepted his offer to get married. But believe me, this marriage won't last long."

Mona furrowed her brow, looking at Emma's face without understanding, "No couple hopes for their marriage to end, Emma. You're strange!"

"Mom, I did it so we wouldn't have to worry about debt anymore. But it doesn't mean I'm being cheap by selling myself. I think, even if we sell this house, the result wouldn't be enough to pay off our debts. So, what are we going to do, Mom? No home and still in debt. I can't imagine we..."
