ETHAN
Seeing her pale and fragile, surrounded by machines and medical equipment, struck me with a wave of helplessness. I approached her bedside, my fingers trembling as I reached out to gently brush a strand of hair away from her face.
“You better wake up, Liv,” I whispered, “You can’t leave me like this. We have too much to do, too much to talk about. I have a lot of making up to do, I need you, damn it.”
She remained still, her breathing steady and rhythmic. I leaned in closer, my lips barely touching her forehead, as if willing her to feel my presence. “I have so much making up to do Olivia Stone, you have got to wake up, I need you both alive.”
A soft knock on the door drew my attention away from Olivia, and the doctor stepped in, “Mr. Stone, we’ll keep a close eye on her for the next few hours. You should try to get some rest yourself,” he suggested gently.
