Chapter 6
OLIVIA
I tried looking for my husband, but he was nowhere to be found. Ethan didn’t bother showing up for me at my dad’s burial ceremony, and what hurts more is that this is all his fault.
My heart clenched at the thought of my husband and his deceitful father being behind all of this. It made me sad, and I couldn’t help but cry so much.
“Where’s Ethan?” Emily asked me.
I didn’t want to answer that, but I also felt the need to. “Can we not talk about him? I’m already occupied with a lot,” I said, referring to my father.
I thought that she understood me, especially since she started patting my back gently. “But he’s your husband. The least he can do is show up!” she whined.
I knew that she meant well to me, but I knew who Ethan was. “It’s okay if he isn’t here; his presence wouldn’t make a difference anyway,” I told her.
“No, he’s your husband; even if you two don’t get along, he has to show up. It’s your father’s freaking burial, for heaven’
