As I sat in the back seat of the cab, making my way to the hospital, my body had become queasy. I held onto my phone tightly for some reason I couldn’t understand—maybe it was just my anxiety playing out.
Then I felt the buzzing sensation in my hand. There was a text. I turned to see—it was Ashley.
Ashley: Are you at the hospital?
Me: No, not yet, I’ll be there soon.
I texted back as the driver made a stop.
“We’re here ma’am,” he said, announcing that we had indeed arrived at our destination.
“Oh okay… thank you,” I muttered, handing him a bill of ten dollars.
I heaved a long sigh as I stood in front of the hospital, my eyes glued to the huge sign in front of the large building.
Why do I feel so uneasy? It’s just to get Hailey’s medication.
