Chapter 39
I was aimlessly dipping my feet in the pool while scrolling on my phone. Despite feeling extremely tired during the reception earlier, I couldn’t get my eyes to rest. I tried different methods to fall asleep, and none worked. I decided to get up and just sit by the pool. Either I was too deep reading an article or unaware of my surroundings; I didn’t notice the footsteps approaching the pool until my brother’s voice startled me.
“Why aren’t you in bed? You said you were tired earlier,” he asked.
“I don’t know,” I replied lazily without getting up. “Why aren’t you sleeping yourself? You should be in bed with your new wife.”
Gio rolled his eyes. “Exhausted.”
“That’s usually the reason people go to bed. Why are you here anyway?” I asked confusedly. “I saw you sitting here by yourself and got worried you might get possessed. Or worse, hurt yourself.”
I just snorted at that. My brother sometimes could exaggerate things.
