Chapter 97. A Luna Queen
VENUS
Riding, no matter how much fun it was, came with its own disadvantages. My waist ached from fighting to maintain a good sitting position on Vinci. The reins had left ugly red lines on my palms and I smelled worse than a pig.
April and Jess were in my room again and although I was happy to see them, I was equally suspicious. My fears were confirmed when I pushed my lunch aside halfway eaten and they exchanged worried looks.
"Fitzwilliam asked you two to keep an eye on me, didn't he?"
Their ominous silence answered my question and I was disappointed in them, hurt too. Not only did Fitz fuss over me like a mother hen, he had somehow managed to convince my friends to spy on me.
"I'm sure he meant no harm, Vee," Jess explained and April nodded in agreement. "He wanted us to make sure you were taking your drugs and resting when necessary. Nothing else."
