Chapter 96. His Father’s Son

Rhys POV

I called a meeting immediately after my morning public address, and soon, Mars, Fitz, and, surprisingly, Tilly walked in. I sat up, genuinely surprised to see her.

“Good morning, my Lord,” she said by way of pleasantries. “You gave the world quite a shock today.”

“You saw it then. What did you think?”

I tried to sound unconcerned, but I was interested in hearing what she had to say. Mars and Fitzwilliam took the opportunity to bring more chairs closer to mine in an arc.

“My Lord, I must say that while it was good of you to end the gossip and clear Miss Vinley's name, don't you think that you might have gone too far by mentioning your relationship with her?”

I already saw that argument coming and was ready with a handy answer.
