Chapter 18. First Awakening

The wolf whimpered, its large form wriggling against her grasp but her grip was unyielding as she tightened her hold around its neck till she felt its insistent struggle begin to weaken.

Rhia’s blue eyes flashed with a surreal brown light, and an invisible wave of power burst through her. She remained standing, her eyes fixed on the wolf dying slowly within her grip.

The other wolves paused, their eyes widening. Their head instinctively lowered in recognition of a greater power, and they trembled as their whole bodies lowered till their bellies touched the damp earth.

Their bodies were tensed, unable to raise their heads against the overwhelming aura, putting them in total submission.

The light in her eyes flared once more, and the aura grew even more, enveloping the whole space. A ripple went through every wolf, and they all began to whimper at the threat of her power, too scared to move as they awaited their death.
