I looked Jaewon in the eyes, initiating the overwhelming panting, but nothing halted or alleviated. And that was exhausting, not to mention frustrating and frightening.

“Okay, I’m going to need you to take off your clothes for an intravaginal exam, alright?”

I nod, watching him close the curtains before asking for a hospital gown and leaving me alone with Jaewon, who helped me put it on and get back to bed.

“I’m sorry for having to treat you here in the emergency room,” the doctor says, putting on gloves. “But I’ve already asked them to reserve a room for you. You won’t have to stay here, okay?”

“Thank you,” I say, breathless and tired.
